Does TOG have any certification?

  • Certificate of Origin (CO), Certificate of Exporter and Certificate of Free Sale are available on request.
  • Regarding products, TOG doesn’t have the certificate of product, but we do have certificates of system ISO13485, ISO9001, and ISO14001, which can’t be specified on the packaging. However, TOG can issue certificates for various tests such as the drop ball test. This document will be issued on behalf of TOG (Self-declaration) or use test results from other institutions for reference.
  • EC Declaration of Conformity, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001.

Do TOG products have CE marks or FDA approval?

  • For Europe, TOG has CE mark self-declaration Class1, such as TF-1000-001 (Technical Document Spectacle lens, Prescription, Standard), TF-1000-002 (Technical Documents Spectacle lens, Pre-prescription), TF-1000-003 (Technical Document Spectacle lens, Prescriptions, Custom-made)

What is HEV?

The High-energy visible light (HEV light) is high-frequency, high-energy light emitting from the sun and electronic devices in wavelength from 380 nm to 500 nm.

Currently, a 2019 report by France’s Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) supports the 2010 result on the adverse effect of blue LED light (400-450 nm spike) on the eye, which can lead to impaired vision. It highlights short-term effects on the retina linked to intense exposure to blue LED light, and long-term effects linked to the onset of age-related macular degeneration.

What HEV value should be?

This means studies have found that UV rays can cause damage to both the front of the eye (crystalline lens – cataracts) and the back of the eye (macular degeneration in the retina). Blue Light is a cause for concern, especially since research is now pointing to HEV having some of the same effects as UV on the human eye.

HEV (Blue Light) is also involved in the processes of Circadian Rhythms and sleep-wake timing by influencing levels of naturally occurring Melatonin. Research has shown that HEV breaks down Melatonin, which is the body’s natural mechanism for regulating sleep patterns. Exposure to bright light (sunlight in particular) also breaks down Melatonin and causes wakefulness. When darkness occurs, the body stimulates the production of Melatonin which invites the body to sleep. Late evening exposure to Blue Light can negatively influence your ability to get consistently good sleep.

What is LeafEco®?

LeafEco® represents the concept of “Lens for Earth”. LeafEco® was developed to reduce Carbon Emissions, it is an optical lens manufactured by TOG and based on biomaterial 82% of the total substrate, which is the use of palm oil as a precursor which has lifespan and provides specifications similar to plastic lens instead of fossil fuel or petroleum to the manufacture of lenses.

What is the difference between normal 1.74 and TOG 1.74 LeafEco®?

1.74 is made from petrochemicals, but 1.74 LeafEco® is made from biomaterial. This will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions from the production process into the atmosphere by at least 1.1 million kilograms per year. The property is also not different.

What is the difference between UV400 vs BlulocTM? And which UV blocking is good?

For UV400 and BlulocTM, both of them block UV from the in-mass UV blocking material by absorbing method, which be able to block blue light more than 70%. UV-A & UV-B Protection of UV400 is at 400 nm and BlulocTM is 420 nm.

In conclusion, the performance of BlulocTM is the best for blocking blue light.

What is the difference between Hard-Multicoated (HMC) ?

Hard-Multicoated (HMC) coating is Hydrophobic (Water Repellant) Coating which applied on lens surface.

The Hydrophobic is a type of coating that is similar in properties to the water droplets on lotus leaves that are unable to bind. The water will lift up into round pellets and will quickly roll off, which will result in dirt or dust being rolled over and easily blown off. It also makes cleaning easier as well.
